  • Dennis Baker

    Dennis moved to Corona del Mar in 1963. He taught high school until retiring in 2000. He is a  member of the General Plan Advisory Committee; docent for the Newport Bay Conservancy and OC Parks; a member of the Southern California Wetlands Recovery Project Wetlands Advisory Group and Santa Ana River Task Force for the Santa Ana River Conservancy; Director of Short Film Programming for the Newport Beach Film  Festival' co-founder and board member for Orange Coast River Park Conservancy; and treasurer of SPON.  He served thirteen years on the City’s Water Quality/Coastal Tidelands Committee, as a City Arts Commission coincident with being on the board for Ballet Pacifica, and was president of the Newport Bay Naturalists and Friends.  He is an avid kayaker and has traveled extensively by bicycle and backpack worldwide.

  • Keith Curry

    Keith is a former mayor and council member serving Newport Beach from 2006-2016.  He served as Chair of the Administration Committee of the Orange County Sanitation District, President of the Orange County Parks Commission,  President of the Association of California Cities Orange County and President of the League of California Cities Orange County Division.  For twenty four years, Curry was a Managing Director of Public Financial Management and provided financial advice to public agencies throughout America.   He was President of the National Association of Independent Public Finance Advisors.  From 2011-2016 he was a visiting professor in the graduate business school and Director of the Center for Public Policy at Concordia University.  He has an MPA, BA and Certificate in Urban Studies from California State University Long Beach and has attended executive education programs at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.

  • Susan De Santis

    Susan De Santis has a consulting practice specializing in integrating land use, transportation, housing and community development, stakeholder engagement and technology. A  founding member of the Orange County Forum, she initiated the Executive Leadership Program there. She served on Newport Beach’s Housing Element Update Committee  and has also served as co-chair of the USC Advisory Council for the Graduate School of Policy and Planning, as well as President of the California Planning Roundtable.  She is also former president of the Board of the Trovare Homeowners Association.

  • Nancy Gardner

    Nancy was born and raised in Newport Beach, graduating from Harbor High. A former City Council member and Mayor as well as Citizen of the Year, she was co-chair of the General Plan Advisory Committee that produced the City’s current general plan. She co-founded the Newport chapter of Surfrider Foundation and went on to serve as president of the national board. She is currently the chair of the General Plan Update Steering Committee.

  • Laird Hayes

    Laird was an NFL side judge for twenty-three years including three Super Bowls and current NFL officials’; scout and Southeastern Conference officials’ evaluator. Laird currently serves on the Newport Beach Parks, Beaches and Recreation Commission and the General Plan Advisory Committee.  He is a Volunteer in Policing for the Newport Beach Police Department for which he was named Volunteer of the Year  in 2022.  Other civic activities include serving on the board of directors for Leadership Tomorrow and Share Our Shelves and on the Special Olympics Orange County Organizing Committee as well as a C.E.R.T. volunteer. He’s in his fourth decade of  teaching surfing and ocean safety at Orange Coast College.

  • Charles Klobe

    Charles has lived in Newport Beach for over 31 years. He and longtime partner Nancy Scarbrough raised three boys in their Newport Heights home of over 17 years. The boys attended the local public schools. Charles and Nancy are proud grandparents to two girls, one eleven and one three years old. Charles and Nancy began their civic activism several years ago when City Council decisions affected Newport Heights negatively. Four years ago they were elected to the Still Protecting Our Newport (SPON) board of directors where they enjoy being involved in challenges confronting the city. Charles is the current President of SPON and also serves as President of the local HOA type group, the Newport Heights Association. Recently Charles was appointed to the City of Newport Beach General Plan Advisory Committee.

  • Jennifer McDonald

    Jennifer is a professional communications consultant, writer, editor and translator. Active in local politics since 2013, she has served on the boards of various organizations at the City and county levels and worked on multiple political campaigns. Her areas of focus for Newport Beach include environmental sustainability and good governance.

  • Steven Rosansky

    Steven has been the President & CEO of the Newport Beach Chamber of Commerce since January, 2013, an organization comprised of over 700 member businesses which organizes a number of civic events and fundraisers. He served as a Newport Beach City Councilman from October, 2003 to December, 2012 and as the Mayor of Newport Beach from December, 2006 to December, 2007. He also served as a Parks, Beaches and Recreation Commissioner from August, 2003 to October, 2003.

    Mr. Rosansky received a Juris Doctor degree from the UCLA School of Law in May, 1985 and a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School of Business in May 1982. Steve is a licensed attorney and real estate broker and for most of his business career, he owned and operated Newport West Real Estate Company specializing in residential and commercial real estate sales and leasing, residential real estate financing, and real property negotiation and entitlement processing. He also acted as Managing Partner of a Togos-Baskin Robbins in Orange, California from 2000 to 2012 where he owned and operated restaurant franchises with sales in excess of one million dollars.

    Previously, Mr. Rosansky practiced law at Rutan & Tucker in Costa Mesa, California from November, 1985 to September, 1987 specializing in real estate transactional law. Mr. Rosansky is a long time member of the California Bar Association, California Association of Realtors and the Newport Beach Association of Realtors. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Newport Beach First Battalion/First Marines Foundation and the Board of Directors for Newport Beach & Co..

  • Walter Stahr

    Walter Stahr is an author, lawyer and community leader. After graduating from Harvard Law School, Walter worked as a lawyer for more than twenty years, including five years of government service and seven years in Asia. More recently, Walter has focused on researching and writing biographies: he has published four best-selling and prize-winning books, and is now at work on a biography of William Howard Taft. He is also a leader in the local community, serving on the boards of the Pacific Symphony and Newport Beach Public Library Foundation. Walter’s parents, John and Elizabeth Stahr, were honored for their many contributions to Newport Beach by being named “Citizens of the Year.”

  • Chace Warmington

    Chace is a long-term property manager passionate about public service.  Born and raised in Newport Beach, Chace has served as an influential government and community relations professional, amplifying and building brand awareness through compelling media and public relations campaigns for for-profit, nonprofit, and higher education institutions.  He also has served as a board member on several local nonprofits, such as Human Options and The Center for Autism and Neurodevelopmental Disorders; he also serves as a board member of the higher education organization Center for Citizen Peacebuilding.  He is most proud of his twelve-year effort to build a public/private partnership between Caltech and UC Irvine to restore the Kerckhoff Marine Laboratory in China Cove, Newport Beach. He holds an MS in Conflict Resolution, a MA in Political Management, and a BA in Political Science.

  • Paul Watkins

    Paul is a long time resident of Newport.  He has been involved in civic activities for about 25 years. Paul is a former Citizen of the Year (2015), is the current Chair of the Board of Library Trustees,  and serves on the 2023 General Plan Advisory Committee.

  • In Memorium, Jean Watt

    Jean Watt made a career of serving Newport Beach. A Citizen of the Year and former city council member, she helped found and lead several organizations focused on the environment, including SPON, Friends of Harbors, Beaches and Parks, and Orange Coast River Park. In addition, she co-founded Friends of the Newport Beach Animal Shelter, which successfully raised the funds to establish the City's shelter in Santa Ana Heights. She is missed.
